Did you know that leaving the gas cap on loose (not tightened until it makes a couple of clicking noises) can make your check engine light come on?!?!?
I havent done that in my IS, but My last car was a chevy blazer, and The light would always come on if I didnt seal the cap tight enough. THen it would take a day or two to turn off.
Speaking of turning off the check engine lights whats the best way of reseting the ECU in the IS300? Not that I need to yet. I know in my previous car, Mitsu Eclipse, I always got the check engine light because of all my mods and to reset it I just had to pull a specific fuse for a couple seconds and put in back in.
Rather then yanking battery cables and loosing all the memory stored in the radio and resetting the clock.
My last car - an MB SLK 230 - did the same thing with the "check engine" light...thanks to that convoluted plumbing matrix known as the "pollution control system."
But, whenever it came ON, it took a trip back to the dealer to shut it off - even though nothing was actually wrong.
Yet another reason why I've returned to Lexus.
