I will probably be shot for this....

The Ebay ricer special has arrived I felt like being creative...not to mention i am broke, so I got this intake for US$40 off ebay plus US$45 shipping and 25% duty I will be swapping out the filter it came with for a Blitz SUS i have on my race car...its at the shop so ill do that friday too.

The quality isnt that great but it works perfectly once modified.

Fresh out the box

left over flashing from when the hole was drilled for the MAF...it had to be cleaed up!

All clean

Turns out i needed larger screws to secure the MAF...the gold one is the stock altezza screw, the black one is one i had laying about.

This meant that the mounting hole on the MAF had to be enlarged

To get this puppy to fit i had to cut of the 45* bend (i left about an inch of pipe after the MAF flange) and i also cut an inch off the 90* to bing the intake in a little other wise it would hit the back of the head light

There is a small vacum port on the top of the throttle body which is no longer used with the installation of an intake kit. I know this because the Apexi kit i installed for a friend blocked off the same port....in a cleaner manner though :-[

Over view...notice the hose coming from the valve cover? That has to be stretched a little to fit. ALso the port for it on the intake tube is a little small...i secured with 2 zip ties for now...will be getting a proper replacment hose on friday

Finished product with the stock air duct reinstalled

Excellent job! You got killed on the postage though. :-? Still it is way cheaper than a comparable HKS kit! I'm assumin that the pipe doesn't come with the intake vanes like the HKS or Blitz? This will cause bogging at low rpms + high loads. The HKS suffers from this. Try accelerating from 2.5k rpms in 6th gear & you'll see what I mean.

yeah i do have a little bit of low RPM bogging...i thought it was the MAF sensor so i took it out and it was covered in dust...gave it a clean and this are alot better but i still get the hesitation in the lower rpms...after 3000rpm its fine.

Do you know how to help this out? Im not sure what you are talking about when you say vanes. This filter doesnt have a smooth conversion from filter to pipe...im thinking this is causing turbulance giving the MAF sensor hell trying to read air flow. I will swap it out for my Blitz SUS once i go to the shop and get it out of my other car. It has a nice smooth funnel so this should help things out a little.

I would post a pic, but I've lost the USB cable that plugs into my camera.

Your stock airbox has these vanes. If you look into the MAF secsor opening, you'll see these two plastic vanes that go accross the pipe. You'll need to duplicate that in your new intake pipe, but try vertical ones instead of horrizontal. Follow the stock spacing and this should make it better.

well just a note to any other cheap skate who is maybe thinking of attempting the same thing.....DONT BOTHER. Get a drop in filter if anything. My car feels MUCH better with the stock air box and apexi drop in filter.

The Blitz pod filter is guranteed to work & will give you that snorty-growly sound you like so much. I know, I use one.
