HKS CAMP2 Replacement?

I'm looking for a gauge setup that I can go in and check a few things without having to pull a scanner or have a plethora of gauges on my dash. I remembered looking at the HKS CAMP years ago and remembered the CAMP 2 came out, but it seems like it's been past its prime and finally went to being discontinued. Does anyone else offer something like this? Ideally, I'd like to feed the video stream to an OEM Navi unit, but I could feed it to a double din screen if necessary.

Nobody has anything on this? Hrm...

How hard is it to come by a CAMP 2? I can get the accessory packages easy, just can't seem to find the main unit.

Interesting, I'll have to search for a write up on this if you have one.

The only issue I have with retrofitting a tablet are for the following:

1) Power Cut Off - Ideally I'd rather not have the tablet run when the car is off. I don't want a parasitic drain from the batter to keep the device up either. Ideally, I'd look at this like my old car PC days and have a remote wire trigger the power so that there is a startup power signal and a safe shutdown signal so the device is off when the car is off.

2) Heat - Tablets these days with decent resolution and that are not laggy generally run hot. Being retrofitted into a dash means they are going to get less circulation (also don't want to cut into the vents to cool it off) which means the battery inside is a ticking time bomb of acid. Not only that, but this location is where the sun will be beating on it, so not only is the device producing heat, but it's absorbing it from the sun.

That said though, the functionality and the built in features of a tablet are hard to beat. I just need to figure out how to do it right.

although there is no way to incorperate into the nav or a double din

No write up, I just got bored.

The power cut off issue can be dealt with in software, but I never got that far. I used a kindle fire as a proof of concept, and with the amazon overlay it was a PITA to make automate work right.

Heat wasn't and isn't an issue. Also, no acid in tablet batteries, it's lithium ion or a variant. They don't leak.

I'm probably going to pull the tablet, and make a docking station with a qi charger in it, as I honestly dont use this for much.

IF you got the money to splash, you should go for one of these.

Just placed an order for one. This will sit in the place of the factory Navi.

Interesting @Shady89066, I'll look into it more. The only problem with that setup is that it's dedicated. It looks nice, but I'm trying to get everything setup so I can have the display show readouts and automatically shift to reverse camera when the car goes into reverse.

I remember looking into the PLX gauges at one point to have multiple readings without several gauges. You can have it mounted in cluster or in a gauge pod and do all modern stuff with smartphones too.
