Burnt Plastic on Exhaust Tip

I have some burnt plastic on my exhaust tip from a melted plastic bag; does anyone have suggestions as to how to clean it off? I've tried steel wool and some cleaning supplies but it's been burnt on for a while and shows no indication of coming off.

Have you tried any type of polish like "Never Dull" ?

It'll take a lot of elbow grease for sure, but I've taken of a bunch of crud that seemed to be permanently attached to my muffler and exhaust tip.

I would keep trying to remove it with very fine steel wool and glass cleaner. After it's off, polish it with never dull or Mother's Mag/Aluminum polish and a wool pad.
