DNA MOTORING HEADERS - Installation Complete! - Product Update

So I picked up a pair of DNA Motoring Headers of Amazon.

Yes, I was very skeptical and yes they are very cheap and most certainly not a Figs Header.

But I've read a few previous threads that mentioned them and for the price (even if they didnt work out) I was willing to give them a try.

I noticed several threads discussing the requirement to bang in the firewall to accommodate the 02 Sensors. (Much like the Megan Racing Headers - which I believe the DNA Motoring headers are the knock-off of)

I just wanted to provide an update that they must have Revised the bung location because they were practically plug and play. The most difficult part of the install was getting the old headers out because of the Y-Pipe Flange hitting the bell housing.

To that note: I did however, have to basically loosen every screw of the throttle body but eventually the header came out all together.

I mated the DNA Motoring Header with a Megan Racing Y-Pipe and Apexi N1 Catback.
- Past 4K and the car just screams. Definitely not street legal.

I did want to point out that I used a "L" Bend Anti-Fouler for the Post Cat 02 located on the header manifold but not on the Y-Pipe o2 Sensor and have been running successfully without any CEL.
- I wanted to avoid an 02 sim kit as much as possible.
- Here in Wisconsin there are no visual inspections - as long as there is no CEL you pass emissions.

Just thought this kit may be of benefit to anyone looking for a budget set of headers in states that dont require or perform visual inspections.

DNA Motoring Header: $114.00USD
CNT Anti-Fouler Kit: $17.99USD

All-in-all total header and anti-fouler package installed for: $132.00USD!
Took about...maybe: 8 hours total?

Cheers!

Nicely done man! I have an OBX-R long runner header and used an "L" bend anti fouler like you.
I remember the first time I removed the stock header, the 3 bolts were rusted and I Dremeled them off while laying in a puddle.

It's taken a while, but I no longer have any CEL's either.

Cheers!

I did take a sound clip video yesterday but it turned out to be rather crummy.

I'll definitely post one soon for you all! :D

Good call and thanks IS2002!

Good question Tobias,

Haven't had anything creep into the cabin yet. One of the first things I checked while at idle.

The only time i really smell any exhaust is when the sunroof is propped up and I'm in reverse. lol
- I know many people think there's a more notable smell that comes with the mod here. However I believe if everything is sealed right, I wouldn't expect to see much in terms of exhaust seeping in through the floor or firewall area.

However, surely if I'm standing behind the car the smell is more noticeable - but nothing in the cabin whatsoever.

Side note,
- I've also been able to run the AC (both recirculating and vented) without any notice of exhaust smell in the cabin.

yeah I drive with the windows open (no a/c) so the smell would get inside. I already can smell it, with just one cat eliminated.

It sounds good inside the car, but slightly tinny, probably from the headers. I think I'll keep my primary cats Thanks for showing, that's a great video

That's about the cost of the headers. Especially if it is made in China. Massproduction runs instead of built to order.
  • 304SS is dirt cheap
  • Buy pre CNC'd flanges
  • Some pre-bent piping, cut it to template
  • Setup headers on a jig (jig was built from copied headers)
  • Cheap welds to hold it all together
  • Gaskets/Hardware arent folded metal gaskets - so also cheap

You usually pay more for American welded, american sourced steel. But even then it's 1-2 hours of labor, maybe the cost of cats, and better hardware.

But even then I never understood the cost of anything welded (unions I guess set market value for the labor). Especially when it costs almost as much as a VSR balanced turbo which has a bit more complexity in the manufacturing process.

Very nice production value

I agree with Chris, it's a bit tinny but sounds great at lower RPMs. Either way, can't beat the price!
