My speedracer potatoe pealing money pit project

My MX-5

Before I start, This is just a rough sketch of what has happened since 2005, Its in order. But in no way did this happen all in one day.
The car still is not finished. Didnt plan on doing a thread until it was, but here we go.
The car has

Sometime in 2005 the car was purchased from an toronto star auto auction.
0.7 kilometers total for 22k, A steal when they were going for 33k
See below

First thing that I ended up doing was buying & installed tein s-tech lowering springs on the OEM sport bilstein shocks.
See below

Shortly after that I picked up some ghetto rota slipstream's 16x7 terrible offset,
They only stayed on for a few months.
See below

Then some crack head from across the bridge on the ghetto side of town decided to take my ashtray with a wopping $4-8 dollars.
See below

So I went out and found a yellow hard top for $400.
See below

Obviously It wouldn't stay yellow, So I rattled it flat black at first.
Then got it color matched.
See below

It was my daily driver at the time so I ended up putting in an Alpine navigation system.
See below

Short while later I ended up finding a Jackson racing M45 supercharger for 1.8NB mx-5 for a price I couldnt resist.
Came with water-to-air intercooler, upgraded pulley, etc.
It made the car a lot more fun considering it only has 140hp from the factory and like 95hp to the rear wheels - lol.
Also ended up putting in a MISHIMOTO Radiator.
See below

The suspension wasn't cutting it so I ordered and installed Apex'i ExV Coilovers. Sadly my camera broke around that time so I didnt get a chance to get a shot of them new.
See below

Bought knock-off mexican 16x8 -0 offset w/ potenza re-11 tires.
Had to roll the fenders. Overall I ended up hating the rims, but LOVING the tires. So much so that I bought them again.
See below

Then the safety needed to be increased due to the sticky tires increasing my speeds on corners.
See below

Got a little older, moved in with wife. -Needed something more practical.
See below

Ended up going a little bit crazy over the 2010-2011 Winter.

Car originally came with a 6 Speed transmission so decided to keep that.
See below

4 Wheel Big Brake Kit - Wilwood Calipers - Floating Rotors - SS lines.
See below

Somethings to hug me tight.
See below

Somethings to hold my car tight.
Flyin'Miata Butterfly Brace & Frame Rails
See below

BRP M62 Supercharger & Track Dog Racing Intercooler ,
Track Dog Racing Heat Shield
See below

Unorthodox Racing Cam Gears
See below

Walbro 255 fuel pump.
See below

Megasquirt EMS w/ AEM Wideband- car being flat-bedded to tuning.
See below

Lower Mileage 95' 1.8l Engine w/lower compression
150mm Crankshaft Pulley
See below

Track dog racing Oil cooler
See below

Foglight delete - Airscoop for oil cooler.
See below

Seats installed
See below

Decided it was time for nice wheels.
Had them refinished & Widened.
15x8 +13
See below

Can't have $300 tires on $2500 rims.
See below

After almost 7 years the paint was pretty beat up as you may have noticed in some of the earlier pictures as we got deeper into the build.
See below

The first sedan wasnt cutting it, The mx-5 was off the road for over 1 year.
Decided it was time to spice things up.
See below

On the highway its a dream.
See below

Frame rails installed
See below

Mexican wheels + low = damaged shit
See below

Friend does quality work- Damage being reversed.
See below

This is how the car sits currently.
By next week it will be out the paint booth & I'll be looking for some track rims.
Updates later.

Looks good. My first car was an mx-6 and I loved that car. Always thought mazda's better looking cars were a bit underpowered. Your miata looks nice and I bet with a few more horsepower under the hood it will be a blast to drive!!

Thanks man
Mx-6 is a little bit different but still a fun car if its the turbo 4WS model.

Yea, the reason the mazda's are underpowered from the factory is because mazda makes the car for "drivers".

Its a blast to drive but usually only younger people tend to care that they are "slow"
but its an awesome car from the factory, but its 100x better now.. and a blast indeed.. I wish everyone could experience driving it, just once.

Don't plan on it nope.
Just got all 4 corners re-done at the body shop with rolled lips.. No waves or dents or cracked paint ...for now.

I'm not a fan of the whole wider fenders flares.. Its hard to pull it off , properly.

Every single road outside of major cities are like this, but usually paved a lot better.. The entire time I was there I was on the move, or in a tour buss, or cab, or unable to stop so I didnt get a chance to take my own photos of these beautiful roads.. I thought I'd be able to go home and google them, but as i found out there is only 1 or so photos of the winding roads in st lucia.

Saw a bunch of CRAZY sti's but sadly they were moving too fast for photos.

Did a bunch of drinking , water sking , zip-lining, etc.

Well, my MX6 was a 1993, the 2.5 V6 model. It was still knda slow but fun, and dont worry, I know all about small fun cars. I own a fiat/bertone x1/9. Mid engined 75hp wonder. It just as fun to drive as my IS, but it cant get out of its own way!
