Review 98 DCiFound for me(timeline post #2)

A little history and long journey on how I got here. I been searching the local craigslist for over a yr. I couldn't decide if I wanted to import a RHD(R33), or get one that was already federally registered. Then I started looking at Honda coupes, EJs, EKs, DAs and 240s, RX7s as I wanted to stick with RWD. But the price that the market has them at, was more than I liked to spend on S13s and S14s. I saw a few, but they only had a bill of sale, so I kept looking. I knew I wanted manual and I wasn't going give up. For some reason, the 98+ integras started getting my attention. But damn, rebuilt title, motor swap, RHD conversion was going for $4k-$6k without receipts of the swap. Most of them just had a bill of sell

Long story short, I found a 98 DC gsr in manual. Has 147k original miles with no major accidents and clean title. Did a carfax and that sold me. Im the 6th owner to own this black beauty. This was a needle in a haystack and couldn't pass it up.

After playing with the Dampener. I finally found a manageable setting. But the rear still needs to be stiffer, as it bounces around on rough roads. Its much better than it was tho

Nice pics, that interior is rather clean and in great shape.

I see your Aussie looks healthy and happy. I'm so glad my IS is in storage ATM, it's like 5F here and snowy too. Good post!

Not sure if I mentioned her name. Its Sienna.
Thanks, just waiting on making a decision on where to get my quick release, hub and steering wheel. I did find an Australian tuner company on the web. This is sketchy, as it will be my first time buying something from overseas, directly. Usually, I go through a middle man.

While the interior is out, I will be running 1/0 gauge power wire to the trunk. Trying to figure out what route to run it. Any ideas?

I remember her name now from another thread*duh

How about since you have the interior out run the power cable down the middle as well as the remote(to keep all positives away) and signals on the sides. I would have done this on my IS but instead ripped the sides apart and ran #2awg. Use an ANL fuse closest to the battery, the round AGM fuses are known to fail and be a weak spot. Up to you, just make sure to keep the signal RCA's separate from B+, obviously.

Putting some bumps in the trunk?

Yup, thinking about it. The IS had the stock stereo and the CD changer and slot 2 jammed yrs ago. So, it became a single disc for a while. Now the damn CD changer doesnt work at all. Luckily, im old enough to have cassettes and been playing some old skool jams on stock speakers. Definitely a day and night when i last remember the music from a kid with bumps in the trunk. Damn, im old hehehe

I have been collecting wires and ANL fuse boxes for the past 15 yrs now. Just never got around to using them. Guess, this car gets the benefit of all this awesome stuff that the lexus got deprived of.

Since, you mentioned running the 1/0 gauge wire through the center. If i did that, wouldnt the wire bubble the carpet in the rear, or should i curve it under the passenger seat and down the side to the trunk? Havent dug up the carpet yet, so not sure if there is a pocket between the floor and carpet.

Hmm...yea, I didn't really think at first and realize 1/0 is quite larger than #2awg. You might be better off running the signal/RCA's down the center. I'm using super flat speaker cable and very tiny shielded RCA's which helps tremendously from Stinger and have #2 down the driver side. There should be some padding between the carpet and floor but not positive, you'll want to get a piece of stainless wire or something stiff like a coat hanger. If you can shape it to avoid any humps, I would probably go that route, otherwise just switch it and do the signals down the middle. Just my thoughts...

hahaha..its almost twice as thick as the 2awg.
Once the damn rain stops coming down from the sky, i will try to get more done to the car.

Did some progress on ripping out the old amp wiring kit that the PO installed. God, what a shytty install. Lets just say, the remote wire was pinched between the plastic door sill and the sheet metal. Causing exposed wires that wasn't usable. That got thrown away. Saved the power wire for later use

Good stuff bro, I see you're really at itlol

Taking your time and doing it proper, something I should have did. I just split down each side and barely made it(I kinda know what you mean that there isn't room for sheit), been that way since I bought it in '02 ha. I really should redo it like how you are doing it, down the middle for signal or power. I hope those msg's helped at least some, let me know if you need any more help with your project.

Definitely looking forward to the final result!
