Search "sharkfin antenna" and they'll come up.

The tightest one I saw could be ordered pre-painted with your own color code, and it also screwed into the existing base, so I assume it had at least some reception.

Extraneous CF bits, blue LEDs, & egregious body kit FIRST!!!

They are like $80 and it's just a shell that covers over your antenna base, but you're right they do paint it to your color. As far as where I got mine from, it's here Functional AM-FM Shark Fin Antenna,-Can be painted -New - eBay (item 110235752075 end time Mar-24-08 02:55:48 PDT) . I think the gen 2 ones are too curved, but it might work cause they do bend a little. So when you tighten the bolt, it'll just make it a little more straight and give it a better fit.

If you want sirius, you might be better off going with the $80 one because those just cover the antenna base and you can have the sirius antenna covered along with it. You might want to check out this one eBay Motors: Functional VG Shark Fin Antenna - Toyota Prius (item 230239165941 end time Apr-06-08 23:40:42 PDT)

So you've seen the one I'm talkin'bout...

Does yours have the antenna plug that screws into the base where the OE antenna goes, or does it just stick over it and not plug into anything?

Mine's a full replacement. I have to remove the entire base and put this one on. Personally, I think these have better receptions. They are made specifically for bmw oem replacement. At least that's what the guy told me.

Hey Josh...You want to sell your stock base or anyone else?

I live here in Houston and on my way to work an illegal alien, without license or insurance, decided not to tie his plywood very well to the roof of his van and well you know the rest.

The dealer wants, get this, $350 for a new ANTENNA BASE.

I just threw up a little in my mouth!

I need more things!

see i wanted to do this pretty bad and noticed my longer OEM antenna was bouncing more than normal, due to the subs in the trunk shaking the antenna loose. so i ended up hand tightening it then realized what i was doing and was just like well fuck imma unscrew it n see what happends n looks like. sure enough the antenna part cam off clean and the base is still installd lookin very similiar to the shark fin. as i kno it now i still get reception around town. short cut n still looks good, oh and its free.

LOOKS AWESOME!!! I think the VG would be much better for the price though, assuming its not too much larger. However, they do paint the VG prior to shipping, and if the color match is good, its def the best choice IMO
