Westside Lexus is where I bought my IS from Got the hookup in Service there too? No AC prevents me from driving her these days.

You've done so much man. Sux about the rear bumper, but obviously you got that under control.

StanceNation Tx roll in was today, but the show doesn't start until tomorrow. I've been busy since my fall classes started this week and I had to prep my car for the show. I just polished and blended the rear bumper yesterday and since I already had my porter cable out, I went ahead and detailed the entire car too. Finished it off by applying Wolfgang paint sealant and I just waxed it at the show.

Nothing fancy but here's some shots I took on my iPhone when I rolled in.

This last shot was taken by my buddy Nigel and his Toyota Aristo V300. Yes it's a real Aristo, RHD, 2JZ-GTE and everything

So I ended up taking home 1st place Lexus IS at StanceNation Tx yesterday. I was in disbelief since I knew the IS category also meant competing against the 2nd and 3rd gen IS too. There were so many nice cars I thought I didn't even stand a chance, especially since I was the only 1st gen at the show.

The judges completely surprised me when they called my name. The judges consisted of John Liwanag from VIPStyleCars, James Church from Vipdout, Elvis Skender from StanceNation, John Peterson of Mayday Garage, and Thomas Pinai who won King of the South 3 times at Wekfest with his GS400. The judges said they didn't judge on a point based system so it was all personal choice. They said my car really impressed them and I really didn't know what to say. I'm honored that they picked my car over all of the other competitors even though in my opinion there were so many nicer IS's there yesterday.

It was surreal meeting all of the judges in person too, I only knew about them online so it was crazy I got to meet and talk to all of them in person

Ever since I put the body kit on my car, I knew it was inevitable that I would scrape the bumper. Especially since the Vertex kit hangs down alot lower than my Greddy lip did. To solve that problem I decided to make a skid plate under the bumper. I scrape slightly coming up my driveway so I knew that eventually it would scrape through the fiberglass. I basically did this to prevent that from happening.

Started off by buying sheet metal from Home Depot

Made a template out of cardstock

Used the template to cut the sheet metal

Had leftover double side stick tape from when I installed the body kit so I used it on the skid plate

Stuck on the first piece

Stuck on all of the pieces

Drilled out some holes and put a nut and bolt to secure it even further

All finished

Kind of overkill, but I did it for the piece of mind. It's not noticeable at all when it's on the car so I'm pretty happy with it. Now I don't have to worry about scraping whenever I go over speedbumps, high entrances, or leaving/entering my driveway

I think this thread gets better each time I check in. Lots of innovation and dedication here. Props on that skid plate!

Some of you might hate me for this, but I sold my Vertex kit over the weekend. It made my car too low to drive daily and it scraped on the speedbumps at my university. I wasn't going to raise my car so something had to happen. I decided to sell the kit while it was still in pristine condition, instead of keeping it and eventually damaging it. I repaired my oem bumper with a plastic welder kit and used the leftover paint to repaint it. I also brought another greddy lip so I'm basically back to my old setup.

Sold it locally to another IS300 owner and I helped him install it right there in the parking lot. Sad to see it go, but I might get the kit again in the future. Next time I'll get the intercooler version straight from Vertex so I have that extra 30mm to use my crash bar. Until then I think I'll stick with polyurethane kits for now. Still waiting for a set of l-sportline or modellista side skirts to pop up for sale locally along with a l-tuned/carson rear lip
