Cracked Rubber Gaskets Lower Corners of Front Windshield

The soft rubber gaskets at the lower corners of my front windshield are cracked and falling apart.

You know the ones; they start at the rear corners of the hood and go for 6 to 7 inches and taper off until they reach the hard plastic trim that edges the sides of the windshield glass.

Mine are dry rotted and I'm wondering if any of you guys has had the same problem.

My car is a 2006 IS250.

The older I get, the better I was.

Got a message from Lexus of Austin. $483.50 parts & labor for replacing these things!

Gorilla tape! ;-)

ouch. I was just staring at those same deteriorating rubber pieces on my 2002 SportX, wondering if it was/is an issue.

I think that Lexus of Austin gave me the wrong info on parts & part numbers. They say I'll need 10 clips. These rubber thingies have only one plastic clip or something, not multiple clips. I told them that they might have mistaken my query for the plastic trim that runs up the sides of the windshield.

When I get clarification, I'll post it here.

Lexus dealer won't sell me the parts for the lower corners of the windshield -- I must get the whole gasket kit.

I'm gonna leave it as-is. I see lots of IS250/350's with these pieces cracking or gone.

The older I get, the better I was.

Mine were cracking and breaking, so I finished them off. The rubber breaks off easily, and it looks better IMO with the rubber gone than with it partially gone.
