Clicking/grinding sound at startup IS350

I just wanted to share the first issue that I have had with my 2006 IS350.
At startup sometimes I hear a clik-click-click sound and then it smooths out. It did it randomly over the course of a couple of months until I noticed it happened more regularly. I took it to the dealer a couple of times until they finally heard it. They said it is the Bank 1 and bank 2 Camshaft Gear. Lexus has a fix for it and I am waiting for parts. They obviously have had more of these so Keep your ears open. They are letting me drive it until the parts arrive so it must not be too damaging. They will have to remove the top half of the engine though.

Me Too

I've got the same noise and I'm taking my 350 in on Friday to get it looked at. I'll tell them what you guys are saying is the problem, but I'm hoping once they hear it they will recognize it from others with the same problem.

Has anyone else here had this problem fixed and never had the noise return?

Let us know what they do and if it fixes it. I think it is oil related i.e. how long the oil is used and the level in the engine.

My noise is not the same as in the clip. Mine is a stripping noise like a cordlesss drill with the torque set too low. Clicking noise and only lasts for one sec after startup.

They can fix it... here is the TSIB: YouSendIt - Send large files - transfer delivery - FTP Replacement

I would of uploaded it to my.is but there is a 976kb limit and the file is 1mb.

That sounds just like the same thing I am hearing on my '06 350.. it only does it when I turn the car on and the speedo/rpm needles do the full sweep motion. It just sounds like something is loose in the gauge cluster.

I haven't taken it in to be looked at, I figured I would just wait until it needs service.

That sound is normal if it only happens as the cluster powers up and the needles swing.

I have the same sound. I thought it was something in the gauge cluster asn it only occurs when the needles sweep up, but as they come down I think the sound stops. It doesn't do it all the time either, just sometimes. I thought it only occurred when it was colder outside, but now that I think about it, it also occur in warmer temperatures (in our underground parking level at work). It's kind of random for me. Most of the time it doesn't make that sound, but sometimes it does.

My next appointment is in about a month's time. I'll ask the dealership to check it out.

You're going to have to leave it with them over night. When it starts to happen everytime it's too late, they will have to perform the TSIB.

That's not normal, on some ISs the small gear in the gauge cluster strips out and causes that sound. If the sound gets worst then just take it to the dealer and they'll order you a new one.

The sound from the engine on startup has a TSIB on it.
