Why should I purchase an IS-F?

I'm looking for a sports car. So the obvious competitors are the M3 and C63. Those are both obviously faster but why would I choose the IS-F?

Pros:
Quality
Can keep up with the germans
Cost
Reliability

Cons:
Slowest of the bunch
Can't keep its traction (from what I've heard)

Let me know of any other pros and cons. If I install an LSD, would it help significantly with the traction? Could I modify it to be as quick and sharp as the others?
Thanks

In all seriousness you forgot a major pro.......the sound of the engine. Pure heaven.

i feel like the design of the IS-F is too bulky and could look better so that's a con (to me). You might feel differently.

LSD.....the IS-F only came with LSD.

Also, the newer ones came with a proper mechanical one, unlike the earlier ones that have an electrical one.

2012 Lexus IS F - First Test - Motor Trend

IS-F had same braking and better skid pad than the M3. 1/4 mile is 12.9 @ 111mph for the IS-F and 12.7 @ 110mph for the M3. I don't see why you think it's performance is lower....

Adding to what Jerm said, I think a 2012 model or newer is what you would want, especially in comparison to the other cars. Here's why...

Replied in your other post already so let's drop the rear traction issue.

Regarding performance, you're splitting hairs and it's going to come down to driver in any of the vehicles.

If you want a manual, than you're stuck with a BMW. Are you wanting a later V8? If so, that's a premium price wise and I've always felt their quality/fit/finish were poor for the $$$ and name. If you're wanting crazy maintenance bills, feel free to get the Merc.

Really, you need to drive all three and decide which ones for you.

But to answer your original question? The ISF is a phenomenal day in and day out vehicle. It can be driven for miles on end comfortably, gobble tons of freeway miles, casually pace around town, but when pushed sounds glorious and steers in wonderfully. It's truly a jack of all.

If you believe that both are "obviously" faster than the isf then you clearly haven't done enough research comparing the three cars.

In a straight line the c63 amg would be a bit faster than both, the isf and m3. Between an isf and a dct m3, it would be a driver's race. A manual m3 would be the slowest of the bunch.

Going around a track the c63 amg would be the slowest. If the isf is a 2010 or below, the m3 would come out on top, but if the isf is a 2011 or above, it would be a driver's race. Of course all these are the most likely scenarios assuming that each car is being driven by the same or similar experienced drivers .

The three cars are very close performance wise, but they drive very differently because of their different specs and purpose.

2010 is when they added the torsen lsd, 2011 is when they made the suspension better and knocked a bunch of time of of lap times. 2011 and newer is the one to get in my opinion...and is why i did . Is-f ran the same lap time as the m3 at VIR and it is about 300 pounds heavier i believe...not too shabby. with headers and exhaust the car sounds insane!

They are pretty expensive. It is tough to find the power, luxury, reliability and resale value the is-f delivers which is why i chose it over the bimmer/merc

i forgot to say that , you are basically getting the perfect combination of performance and reliability, but it depends if OP gonna drive it for 2 years or 10 years.....
