California Diagnostics check, WTF?

Went to AutoZone last night and was told that in Cali they are not allowed to run the code scanners. Is this the case everywhere or did I get the run around?

Yes. Basically shops complained to B.A.R. so they made it illegal for large chain businesses to do it for free

then you can do real-time scanning, as well as monitoring all other aspects of the car such as temps, pressures, etc.

if you're auto you can leave it on all the time, if you're 5-speed like me, your foot will hit it if you're going for the clutch, but it's not too bad for just scanning codes.

You input weight, engine size, etc. and then it determines it against acceleration.

Yeah hes right none of the autoparts stores are allowed to perform that test anymore due to a law or policy that was passed a few years back. I work for an autoparts store so i know firsthand. Pepboys might have been able to do it because they actually have a repair shop in their stores.

I also use the bluetooth adapter with Torque Pro and Dash Command and it works great. Best $15 spent.
