Moving to Texas in August....

And I'm almost afraid to ask here.....

What are the emission requirements in Texas? I will probably ship the IS to port at jacksonville and drive the rest of the way. It has the basic go fast stuff (I/H/E), so no cats. Down here car inspections are pretty random. They won't do visual, and you get through emissions with a $20 bill. Paying the $800 for shipping and getting stuck at port in JAX would really sawck donkey cawck.

$80 bucks..... and 15min but seriously, obd2, all lights, mirrors, wipers, seat belts, parking brake, other things of that sort.... some of those are not so important, depending on where your go.

Look to the local car community for a heads-up on which inspection stations are cool.

Down in these parts, it's a visual, lights, brakes, done.

Thanks everyone. So they don't do emissions?? Pretty much what I am afraid of is getting stuck at jacksonville. Maybe if I evidence that my final destination does not inspect vehicles for emissions I can leave port.

They still run you through all that BS since your coming from a US territory? I would think they would just release the car and let the state you are headed to deal with it.

Awesome man, College Station isn't too far from me.
About an hour and a half, maybe 2 hour drive.
Check out our other thread for updates on a meet that we are trying to plan.

Too many people try to impress others and build their car to what they know someone will like.
You lose sight on what you like, when you simulate your likes around others dislikes.

While in College Station, join College Station Car Club.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/CStatCC/

They have weekly meets on Thursday nights. They also post up AutoX should you so be inclined. While it's not strictly is300, they are still a pretty cool group of people

Car held up just fine. Its has been my daily driver for the past ~7 years (including visits to numerous constuction projects) and I have kept up with maintenance. So yeah, it breezed through the ~1300 mile trip from ft lauderdale to college station
