Thinking about exporting IS350 from US to UAE

I've seen some info on the web and a couple of threads here that discuss why the IS350 isn't available in the Middle East. The main reason I've seen is the fuel quality over there isn't as good (higher sulphur content) and that would be bad for the direct-injection engine. Does anyone know at what point sulphur will start doing engine damage?

Here are other things I've observed:

1. Other direct injection engines have been operating there. I think Audi has one among others.
2. Lexus has introduced a direct-injected LS460 in UAE for 2011.
3. IS350's are very rare in UAE. I've seen only two on their version of craigslist, and one of the service people at a dealer I contacted over there said he'd only seen one IS250 and no 350's.

Here are the other issues I'm aware of:

1. warranty will be void
2. service will be harder to get. I talked to a couple of Lexus dealerships over there and they said they'd be able to service the car mechanically but wouldn't be able to diagnose electrical problems because they don't have the proper equipment.

I'd like to hear from people here who have some knowledge about the fuel issue. Is Lexus being over-cautious or am I being stupid for taking the car there?

Thanks!

Same parts really?

I think it's 5% of value as assessed by customs.

The GS350 and IS350 share quite a few parts as the 2IS is essentially a shortened GS platform... they're certainly not all the same though. You'd have no trouble interchanging, say, spark plugs or brake pads... body panels or many interior bits not so much... (and suspensions won't quite be the same either)

It just shows how good the 2IS is, hehe.

Also, because it is the shortened version of GS350 platform, the body and torsional strength is very good. You can call it a "solid product".
