Matador Red

Mine:

Matador Red
Gray Interior
w/ Navigation

I originally thought I wanted the Smokey Granite, and when I saw the too next to eachother, I had to have the Red. It helps that I went to Stanford and the car is Cardinal Red as far as I am concerned.

hi all,
is350, black and cashmere, fully loaded with luxury upgrade with nav., 18 in. rims, summer perf. tires, will switch to all seasons when they wear out.
Living in Canada you'd think they'd give me that option.
Just got it yesterday, and loving it. slowly figuring everything out. I find the best way to access the options is to try things out, then go to the manual and read up on the particular item that you might want to adjust. There's so much to play with. Having a little problem with the nav. system, it seems to want to take the round about way to get to my destination even when I tell it the route. Pics to come.

Wanted Blue Onyx Pearl, but wasn' blown away when I saw it up close. The Matador Red however, just grabbed me and I had no doubt about what I wanted.

Cool! I think the rule of thumb is at least 650 miles for the break in period. Enjoy.

I don't think so. The owner's manual says about 6K or 6 months.

Please don't give out advice that goes against factory recommendations.

Thanks, Bart

Do the break in like it says in the manual. Avoid full throttle starts, hard stops. Lots of things need to wear in a little. Don't drive long distance at steady speeds. Once you pass 640 miles, then consider it broken in. No need to change oil before 5000 miles.

You'll also get a free inspection at Lexus after 30 days.

Don't baby it, no speed limitation, but avoid long full-throttle runs and/or hi-revs (>5,000) for the first 600 miles. But hitting red once in a while won't hurt it.
A mix of driving styles & roads is better, and don't use you cruise control too much for the 600 miles.
Otherwise, just enjoy your investment.

Here's why I did with mine: I set the rev indicator (the orange light) to 5,000 RPMs during the first 600 miles, so if it lit I knew to not keep it there too long.
After the 620th mile, I set up the indicator to 5,900 (to help me know when to upshift when using paddles) and proceeded to hit the rev limiter in all the first 4 gears on my way to 120 to celebrate!
