Ready to purchase IS350 or250

I'm ready to make a purchase of a 2009-2011 IS350 or a 250. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for along the lines of general problems? I have seen several in the area dealers that look pretty good and well priced. I would like to know a little more about them before the test drive. So far all the ones I have seen are AWD. That would be a waste of money for me in the Gulf Coast area.

Any advise anyone can share would be helpful.

I've had a IS350 since they first came out. Lately I've had a 250 as a loaner car. The big difference to me was that the 250 downshifted on relatively small hills while the IS350 will go through he Tenn mountains and never run out of breath. I'd go for the 350 considering the difference in used market price and performance. Also on a round trip to the dealer the 250 and 350 got the same highway gas mileage so I don't see any advantage there for the 250.

Plus, as far as raising the horsepower/torque on the ISX50, there is very little aftermarket mods. So if you want power, your best bet is to go with the 350 because you get over 100 more horsepower for 10% more of the cost. Make sure the power of the IS250 is ok with you because there is really nothing you can do about it, without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

To me, they may look the same, but they feel like two entirely different cars.

In line with what the others have said, the power difference is just so huge that the price difference seems negligible.

Chalk up another for the IS350, I am always sad whenever I get a 250 for a loaner. Once you drive the 350, the 250 feels like it's pulling a boat or something.

Agree on the IS350 comments. The price to get extra 100hp is a bargain! The 250 is slower than minivans.

I switched from the 250 to a 350 over a year ago and I've had no problems at all. HUGE difference in powere from the 250 to 350.

Another vote for IS350

I have test-driven both the 250 and 350 and ended up buying a used 2008 IS350 (It's one day old as of this posting). As others have stated, it's a big enough difference in power that you would notice it. Keep in mind that the ISX50 in general is a fairly heavy car, the extra power is very handy.

I think that if you go used, any IS350 below 2011 production year should be RWD as they recently came out with the AWD option.
