"Oil Maintenance Required Soon"

Hey I'm getting "Oil Maintenance Required Soon" light when I start the engine. This started happening yesterday.

See my video here -- YouTube - My IS350 is Acting ghey...

I got the oil changed by the Lexus dealer last time at 3050 miles. I'm now at 4500 miles and how come I'm getting this message?

When I had oil changed there at the lexus dealer I asked them I need the car back soon since decided to wait. The service manager said that we can just do the oil change and not a full service to minimize the time so do you guys think that may have to do with this? like...forgetting to reset my computer or something? I'm clueless.

Input plz.

Hope in your car

press and hold the reset button for trip A/B

don't put your foot on the brake and press the power button twice

continue holding the reset button until all 5 squares are gone.

maint.reqd. light should be gone.

i can get to trip A and B but I don't know where the reset button is.. Is it the same button/knob that you press it to get trip A or B? I tried to press and hold and pressed the power button twice but my car turned off and came back on. It didn't do anything else. where's the reset button.

It is the same button.

It may have to be on Trip A to start with.

If not in Trip A, then try in odo mode.

You may only have to press the power button once.

I'm having a brain fart at the moment.

(it comes on every 4500ish miles if not reset...the lexus tech musta forgot to reset it)

not to steal his help but you turn the ACC power on, NOT the car

the button that switches trip a/b/ odo. while it is on put it on TRIP A.. turn car off....hold down the button...press the power button to turn "radio" on but not start the car...watch it reset..when its done the light will go off and you can let go of the button

Correct. Don't start the car.

I found the magic at wikiAnswers.com. I followed the following instruction and it worked instantly!

1. Start the car and set the odometer to the total vehicle miles setting
2. Turn off the car
3. Hold in the odometer button
4. Turn the car on by pressing 'start' twice but DO NOT start the car (don't press the break peddle)
5. Continue to hold the odometer button in until it resets to all zeros
6. Let it go

Thank you guys for the help and all info related to this. My maintenance light is now gone.. hehe!

hmmm.. Isn't 3050 a bit early for an oil change? I thought you'd do it at 5k miles as part of their second complimentary service.

It is. But it was approaching 6 months or so? I don't remember exactly, but from what I heard the Complimentary Oil change service expires after so many months.. Don't know if this is true as I didn't pay much attention.

Plus I put very low miles on my car, mostly very short trips to work (2 blocks away) so my engine doesn't even get warm. Knightshade said that makes the oil go bad sooner. so anyways.....

ok, got it. I myself do some pretty heavy mileage in my car. I took delivery of my car around the middle of January (took ownership of it a little under a week prior) and already at 3800+ miles. I'll be heading in for my 5k complimentary service soon - just trying to figure out what to do if I want to synthetic oil/Mobil 1 route (I'm discussing this in other threads).
