IS 350 new to me

Hello,
I just picked up an 06 IS 350 for the wife. Looking to learn more about the car and found this website. The car is an 06 with 33,000 miles that I picked up on a impluse purchase. My wife has always wanted a Lexus and decided to trade in her Ford Fusion for this. Looking for a FAQ for the IS 350 but may have missed it. Anyways figured I would introduce myself and look forward to the experiance.

There's no FAQ per se, but much info in the stickied threads at the top of this page.

Thanks, just trying to figure out a few things.
1. I am trying to program the door unlock when shifted into "P". I have it programmed for locking the doors when shifted into "D" but cannot get them to perform the task above.
2. Purchased the car from a Ford dealer and cannot find the second key fob. I suppose the key needed wont be cheap and will require a visit to the Lexus dealership.
I think thats all for now.

I think the Lexus dealer has to do the locking program change-- I don't think that's configurable by the owner....

I went through the owners manual and found an area where when the car is started in either "N" or "P" and the door lock buttons are held for 2 sec that would program them. I couldnt get this to work for me. On the other hand it did take a few tries to program the rolling code garage door opener. Maybe I will try again tom.

I had the dealer program my door locks to the park.

You can buy key fobs on ebay but most were already programmed and Lexus cannot redo them. Better to buy a new fob and have them program it. It's not cheap though.

Talked to the dealership today and they are looking for the 2nd key. If they cannot find it they will get a new one from Lexus. I figured it would be pricey, but I dont think they know that, yet.

Good. Now teach your wife how to disable VSC/Traction. Also explain to her what ECT, Norm, and Snow switches are for.

You can then teach her how to *launch*. 0-quarter mile shoot for the low 13's.

13.2 in my case!

Welcome aboard the boards! Any questions, let 'em roll, A few of us on here have had this great car for more than 3 years! We've likely asked the same questions you have. As Bart mentioned, the stickied sections may answer your questions, also remember that there are many more pages of threads here than what are displayed, you just need to keep on scrolling!

Enjoy the IS350!

Thanks guys. I dont visit much but still doing searches for the items I want to do. I visit a Mustang board and cant stand when you get the same old threads for something that has been drilled to death.
Being the wifes car I dont have much control over what I want to do. She is always driving the car! Very good purchase so far, we couldnt be happier.

Glad to hear it. What are you driving when not in your wife's car?

I have a 2004 Mustang Cobra and a 2005 F150 Lariat Supercrew. The Mustang is very close in color to the Lexus. I have been modding the Cobra since I bought it, but she wont let me do the same to her car, yet.
