Trans dipstick tube loose

This is for an 2001 auto is300. I was shifting the trans dipstick tube out of the way last night and the tube/holder seemed to pop out slightly. It seemed to fit right back in and I’ve driven it a couple times since which didn’t seem to produce any leaks thus far and the fluid level seemed fine. However I’m concerned that I may have broken some sort of seal or grommet holding it in as I’m not sure how tightly the tube was fixed in there initially.
Is this something that should likely be replaced?
Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Th stick it's self is held in with a clip. If you are missing the metal holder. That is the issue. As far as the tube it is bolted to the motor.

It’s not the dipstick itself but rather the holder/tube for it that popped out from its slot some 15 inches+ down from the top of the trans dipstick.

even though 01 says 'stick' and 'tube' in his post, i believe he is talking about the dipstick tube itself.

every single dipstick tube/housing(what ever you wanna call it), ive ever seen indexs off of a solid surface via a flat flange and bolt; keeping it in place. for the engine, its usually the side of the block (yes i know we are talking about trans dipsticks, just an example). here is an actual picture of an auto IS300 trans dipstick:

see that flange i mentioned? 01 refers to it as a 'metal holder'. see the o ring on the right as well? inspect that too. thats what keeps it from leaking from the inlet that o-ring resides in. replace if neccesary while its already out.

Yeah, it's supposed to be able to pop out, and you can pop it back in no problem. That picture there is excellent ^^^

Thanks for the replies and giving me a peace of mind. I’ll continue to watch for leaks for the time-being just to be safe.
