Newbie Q's about the warranty

I have an 02 IS3 manual, with 20k miles, and i have a factory warranty to 50K mi bumper to bumper, and 100K mi CPO for the drivetrain.

What mods will void parts of the warranty? Can i do intakes and software and whatnot without problems from the dealer?

I'm a huge BMW fan, and know pretty much everything BMW possible, but when it comes to the lex, i'm a little NEW!!!! I hate being new, but that will last a week, max.

Thanks in advance

Intake itself won't void your warranty... however... software... which I guess messing with ECU... will void your warranty somewhat... they have to prove your mod caused the problem if they want to void, but could be a big hassle.....

Had 2003 GGP Toyomoto SCed IS300, but now
2001 ///M3 Coupe : Phoenix Yellow
- Premium Pkg, Cold-weather Pkg, HK sound, Xenon
-- Eisenmann Race Exhaust
For SALE
2002 ///M3 Convertible : Titanium Silver Metallic / Imola Red Interior
- SMG. Navi. OEM 19"s. Premium Pkg. Cold-weather Pkg. HK sound. PDC. Xenon.
-- Dinan Stg. 3

depends on the dealer. Intake and exhaust usually will not void the warranty. ECU mods will most likely void the warranty, if they find out.
NOS, turbo will definetily void the warranty. This does not mean that it voids the entire warranty. If the add on part was the culprit of the failure, then the warranty is voided, if the part that is broken has nothing to do with the add on part, then the warranty is not voided.

Typically, no. One caveat, if the part that is damaged is caused by the header, then that specific part will not be covered under the warranty.
Now, it is the dealer's job to prove that. For the most part, they will not got thru the hassle of doing so.
Hope it helps
