Need help removing the exterior trim piece on the trunk.

Hi all. I just purchased a reverse camera and have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone here can help me with. I want to install the camera on the underside of the trim piece where the trunk key lock is, which I think is referred to as the "luggage compartment door outer garnish", in the manual. Its the strip that has the trunk key lock and license plate lights. Anyway I've taken out all the tabs that hold the carpet in place on the trunk door/lid but there is the inside door handle that is still holding the carpet in place, making it difficult to see what's under it. Anyone know how to remove that handle and get the carpet all the way out?

I have a 2005 is300

Thanks,

Tina

The trim around the handle is removed. It is a bit of a pain to get it to pop off. Once you get it the carpet comes out.

Yeah, it pops out of place. I'm not sure if you found any good DIYs, but if you search for DIYs on how to change the licence plate lights, that will be the same process. I've also installed a backup camera in that location, works great.
