lookin to buy 2001 IS300

hi im new here! i used to drive an auto RSX, i loved it. sadly i had to sell it due to increased insurance rates (it went up to the highest insurance category where i live, along with preludes and camaros), and other reasons.

anyways, i've been saving up and im out looking for a sporty like used car that is cheaper in insurance and still nice lookin and fun to drive.

i narrowed it down to (in order): 1. 2001 IS300, 2. 2000 323Ci, 3. 2004 Mazda6 GT V6.

Could someone please also list the major and minor problems with the auto and stickshift 2001 IS300s. i haven't decided whether to go for auto or stickshift. i haven't learned stickshift yet but im planning to in this coming summer.

also what are the changes between 2001 and 2002 IS300? is it worth the extra grand to get a 2002? i definetly can't afford a 2003.

2001 and 2002 dont have a 1000 dollar difference worth of stuff. just minor differences like the color of some parts of the dash ect. i thinkt 2002 comes with autodimmer/compass rearview mirror? 2001 doesnt for sure. unless you getting the the 2003 i think 2001 is better if its 1 full grand cheaper. my opinion. however like scott says, 2001 only has a e-shift

what's e-shift? is that tiptronic?

i come from BC, canada, and the buysell and autotrader websites show that the canadian 2001 is300 come in 4speed auto, 5speed tiptronic, and 5speed stickshift. i'm almost certain the 5speed 2001 is300 is sold by lexus, maybe it only exists in canada for that year.

I believe the Canadian models had options in specific packages with numbers...unlike down here in the States.

Don't know what ICBC is gonna do about rates for the IS300, but a number of folks down here have also been complaining that the IS300 has been moved to a more costly catagory for rating purposes...I'm waiting for my renewal now...

wow how do u know about ICBC? in another thread i found out the IS300 is 3100 with 10% discount. so relative to my old rsx, it's way cheaper.

I was rear-ended up in Vancouver, BC last summer. I got to know ICBC very well over the next few months.
