IS300 Speedometer not working (yes I searched)

Sorry to beat a dead horse on this, I know there are a lot of posts with this issue, but I have some details related to my issue that were not addressed in the other threads.

So lets begin....
I bought a 2000 IS300 about a year ago. When I bought the car the Brake light was on (solid) and the Trac Off (blinking). At this time the speedometer worked just fine and the car ran ok minus ABS and trac not working so I put that issue on the back burner since most of the research I did pointed to wheel speed sensors.

Fast forward a year and randomly while driving during a snow storm the speedometer just stops totally randomly. Obviously this is hard to deal with since I am not able to know how fast I am going and don't want any tickets.

I started doing some investigating and here is what I have found. I used a bluetooth OBD2 scanner and my Torque Android app to check for basic codes, nothing. But what I did notice is that the OBD2 speed is still picking up (using this as a sudo speedometer for the time being). So this tells me that the VSS is not the issue and leads me to think its the cluster or the ABS/Trac ecu.

With the info that I now had I took the car to a buddy that works at Lexus in the service dept. He hooked me up with a diagnostic scan, and this is where I am lost... Based on what he showed me the car has 9 (I think that was what he said) ECU's that control different aspects of the car. He was not able to get a connection to any of the ECU's that are related to my current issue. The cluster wasn't reading, the ABS ecu wasn't reading, and I think there was 1 more.

I'm not willing to get raped by the dealer to fix the issue when I am fully capable as long as I know what I need to fix. Any ideas where I should start? I want to try and avoid just throwing parts at it till its fixed since that can get expensive quickly. Thanks for any help!

TL:DR- Speedometer doesn't work, OBD2 gets speed reading, Lexus scan couldn't read related ECU's

I would check all fuses, make sure they're working and seated correctly. Also, try removing the cluster and reconnecting it. Maybe the connector is loose?

I should have put that I already checked all the fuses, no luck there. I will try pulling the cluster soon as I planned to do that anyways.

I was also thinking about checking the ECU codes via the Jumper method just to make sure something was not missed by my friend @ Lexus when he scanned it.

Keep the ideas coming if you have them! Thanks

Bump for the same exact problem here.
2001 is300 manual swapped w55.
Auto ecu (no vss connected but similar situation)

All the circumstances were exactly the same with me. Speedometer worked fine with all of these lights- solid "brake", flashing "trac", solid "abs".

Same situation randomly the speedometer stopped working in winter time. I knew I had a bad abs wheel sensor so I replaced the abs sensor. All of the lights went off. No abs light, no trac light, and no brake light on the cluster.
Speedometer worked fine for maybe 2 months. Then stopped working again.

Today tried the "ABS to speedometer rewire".
Explained in this thread
https://my.is/forums/f114/how-abs-spe.../topics/412759
That takes one pin from the abs ecu and connects it to pin 12 on the cluster. No success. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm going to look through the schematic to get some ideas

Going to check for abs codes. And ohm my abs sensors see where that leads me.
