Engine Turns Over Briefly Before Dying
(Thread also posted in the Basic Help & Repair forum)
Sorry if I'm describing my situation with the incorrect words, but here's some background on the situation. Car has been running fine until last night when it wouldn't start. However, a couple months ago, I had a similar situation where I just needed to keep cranking the engine continuously while pumping the gas pedal in order to get the engine to start. It was fine ever since then. When I tried to do the same thing last night after it wouldn't start normally, the engine sounds like it runs for a split second before there is a combustion pop sound through the intake and it dies. I uploaded a video so hopefully that can help you get a better idea of what I am trying to describe. Is there a common set of steps I should be going through in order to find the problem? Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Had a friend help take a look. Cranked the engine and heard the fuel pump priming. Valve cover seems to be leaking a little oil. Some oil was found sitting above the first spark plug well if I'm describing this correctly. Could this problem be oil in the spark plugs?
