‘03 is300 burning through oil in ~150 miles

I bought an is300 last summer and finally started driving it these past 2 weeks, put 150 or so miles on it and my oil light came on, meanwhile I just did an oil change before putting it on the road with 5w30 synthetic oil. I also changed out spark plugs and they were pretty fouled and covered in oil. Also did a compression test and it read 180lbs a cylinder (likely due to the oil)Just trying determine what is actually wrong, whether it’s my valve cover gasket, piston rings or possibly something else?

You didn’t say how many miles the car has, and that may help someone, help you to look at a certain suspected area. Does the car smoke at all? JZ’s with high mileage always have bad valve stem seals, but I dont think they would cause enough loss in 150miles to turn on the low oil light. The usual suspects, in addition to what you mentioned are cam seals, front & rear main seals. Your 180psi is a good number dry, but may be artificially high due to the presence of oil, but I think you know that.

It would also be helpful to know how low the oil gets when the “low oil” light comes on. I dont know, but I bet somebody here does.

Low oil light I think is about two quarts low.
Like was said we need more details.
Oil on plugs can also be valve cover gaskets.
Any leaks on the ground?
Did you check to make sure the filter and drain plug are not leaking?
Is it smoking?
Was enough oil put in at time of oil change?

I filled it with enough oil and yes it is smoking,

I have a new problem though that’s more concerning, something is ticking after I took it out tonight, I was sliding it and was basically on redline and now it drives and idles fine but I have a ticking all the way through the powerband

Was it low on oil after? Being on the rev limiter a lot is bad.

I would do a compression check and leak down. Other than that. If it only loses oil by burning it. It must look like a bug sprayer.

Ticking? Is your piston head hitting the value. Or the piston knocking. When was a last timing belt changed?
