Yup, as TamIS said.... put a new battery in it. You'll be fine.

Jumper cables don't always get a good enough connection to jump it off. Let us know how the new battery does for ya.

ditto. thats usually the sound of a bad battery, occasionally a miscommunication between the grounding and/or power to the starter.. but most likely your battery.
let us know how a new battery works out for you.

From time to time I get this on my '01 as well, a click when the key is turned but no crank. Then it starts fine a minute later, its not the battery in my case.

If you find the problem and its not the battery post the info, I'll be curious to know.

yours sounds like either a bad/corroded cable or the switch side of the ignition has worn the contacts out. does it do it when you put the key in a certain position? as in it wont start with the first part of the spring pressure but it will if you turn it to the stop or wiggle the key?

the the OP check your battery cables for corrosion, not just on the terminal ends but in the wires themselves. the solenoid could be going bad in the starter, but the rapid clicking is usually a voltage problem

Hey my is300 is making that clicking noise from the starter but nothing is starting. My car was in my garage for about 2-3 weeks with almost an empty tank of gas. Sometimes would start it up for 30 seconds and turn it off.
Last night I may have left the trunk open....like it's closed enough u can't tell it' open....but not the official clicking/locking noise....I was also working later the next day with the trunk open maybe for an hour thinking the battery would still be good...anyways...the car wont start now.

What are the chances it's just the battery? What's the chances are it's a bad fuel pump? I've put a few litres of gas inside thinking it was the problem at first.....is it okay if I mixed possibly a little unknown gasoline(most likely regular 81) with 91? I'm pretty sure this little can't do any harm.

All the electronics do seem fine atm......how do I check the battery voltage with the volt meter?

It is most likely your battery. You haven't driven it in 2-3 weeks and you also left your trunk was left open. Your lights probably drain more battery than you would think. I doubt it was your fuel problem since you were not driving it. Being idol does not take up much fuel. Turning on for 30 seconds wouldn't really charge much of your battery. You would need to let it idle for at least 1 hour. Driving it is when your battery gets the real charging done.
