What hp/tq will the is300 axles/rear end handle?

Hi guys, my car is about to go on the dyno at sound performance this thrusday.

I'm kinda getting worried about how much hp and torq my motor is going to produce... What are known safe power numbers for the stock is300 LSD and axles? What about wheel studs? What about the stock IS300 motor mounts? Will those fail under that sort of torq on a dyno? I plan to install token solutions mounts this winter, just has not happen yet.

I'm pretty confident I will have no problems hitting 700whp and 700+ ftlb of torq with my build.

Sound has a youtube video with my turbo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBi7F91JClI

Any opinions here?

I think most people that have switched them out have done so out of desire not actual necessity. I know there are quite a few people out there running stock stuff in the 700+ range with no problems.

Poster, I mean poster. What have I done?

Tom's right. I have yet to see people swap out the axles and differential due to making too much power. You'll be fine. I would swap out the soft rubber engine mounts though.

Yeah, I dont think this platform has the ability to put the power down at any kind of levels that will actually break those parts. I think SRTs 8 second tube frame IS might actually run the stock rear end components...My memory might be off though.

Just talked to Mo.

9:09pm
Me: oh how many rwhp/torq will my stock axles and lsd hold up to?
Mo: I have run 9's on the stock axles and LSD so 700whp should be no issues

Our stock rear ends are very strong and stable. I haven't heard of anyone breaking anything back there even on high horsepower builds. That's that Japanese engineering right there.

i think you need to re-read that...

part 1 "I have run 9's on the stock axles and LSD"

part 2 "so 700whp should be no issues"

no where in any of that did he say "a 9sec car with 700whp should be no issues"

don't ask me about the election... just ask me who I'd rather go camping with!

Remember it shares the same rear diff and similar axles to the MK3 Turbo Supra. There's plenty of those guys swapping in 2JZ's in those making big power and drag racing them at the track. I just wish there was an easy option to get a lower final drive in there. The lowest gear ratio I can find is the 3.73. I want to put something around a 3.23 in my IS300. Good for saving gas

...wait what the hell am I doing on an IS forum???

Please email me instead of PM. The PM box is too small, and I don't check it too often.
