Reliable Turbo

Hey there so I am new to the forum and just had some questions. I have a manual 02 Is, and really want to turbo it but for the most part it's my daily. So does anyone know what the most reliable turbos are (and hopefully not crazy expensive) for a 2Jz-Ge.

Garrett is generally recognized as the most reliable turbocharger on the market.

I don't think you'll easily (or cheaply) build yourself a "daily driver" turbocharged IS300. Not if you expect it to "just work" like a typical Toyota appliance automobile.

My '02 is turbocharged. It runs great and hasn't broken down on me, but I am always screwing around with it, trying to refine it to the point where it is comparable to something you could of bought new from Toyota.

It's more than just about THE turbo or THE this or that. It is a system that you have to build to work together. Any turbo will be reliable if you only run it at 1 psi.

As for looking on the cheap side....through 18 years of IS existence it has been proven time and again that it is the wrong car if you are expecting to mod it cheaply.

Lastly and again, it is a car that has been around for a long, LONG time. Everything that can be done HAS been done before so take your time to get to know the forums and search around. I can most certainly guarantee you will find what you need.

Hint: Start by looking at the stickies in whatever subforum you are interested in. There's one on this one titled "New to Forced Induction, everything you need to know....." or something like that.
