What do you think of this turbo kit?

My buddy found this on ebay and is thinking of buying it. Any Input?

so i got that garrett turbo and took it apart. heres more specs on it.

Garrett turbo or supposedly garrett.

.50 compressor a/r
.84 turbine a/r
3" inlet 2" out
t4 divided flange
compressor inducer mm - 42
compressor exducer mm - 60
turbine inducer mm - 53
turbine exducer mm - 63

to me looks like a 400hp max turbo. might need some upgrades.

You can but it won't benefit performance at all. You can install the GTE headgasket , rods and pistons and it will be ready for turbo.

Supercharger - instant spool, to change psi you have to change a pulley, for the price not worth it because your limited to hp. You will probably never see over 450hp

Turbo - some lag depending on size of exhaust housing. You could make so much hp and set it what psi you want it that day just by turning up a knob. More reliable less maintenance

Yes you can but your going to loose power. I think the vvti non-turbo engine has 10.1 cr while the gte has like 8.8 or 9.0 somewhere around there.

You could just print it when you get to your computer. Send yourself the web pages and then print them

I have had my IS for a little over a year now and I have been itching for boost since I started looking for one. I've been reading a lot but I know I need to do much much more research on going f/i. The biggest thing I can make out of all of these threads is that this is going to take $$$$$$$$.

I am still in the learning process, but I just wanted some feedback as to what path I'm currently considering for the future. (I figured I should start researching more now so that when I come into the money I'll have a better idea of what to do with it.

I have a 03 e-shift with 133k miles and probably won't be starting this project till much further down the road so the mileage will be higher. I am planning on piecing together a kit on my own to reach a goal of around 300whp until I get comfortable w/ the power and get a better understanding of boost.

My rough plans are:
Transmission: Upgraded valve body, sprag gears, and cooling (Upgraded torque converter?).

Engine:
Compression & leakdown testing to get an idea of what shape my current engine is in
GTE pistons, rods & head gasket

I need to do a ton more research on turbos, ems & tuning. I bought a couple of books, "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems" as well as "Maximum Boost" although I have yet to read them all the way through.

Once I get used to the setup and comfortable with working with boost. I will most likely go for around 400whp maybe 500. At this point I will consider a 6spd.

ANY feedback would be extremely appreciated. Am I going about this all wrong?

Sorry for the long thread I tried to include everything I could think of atm.

I know I need to do more research I just want a push in the right direction.

STILL looking for a 5-speed...
