omfg I'm such an idiot

fuckers sent me a 12 mm inner diameter pilot bearing and I didn't check the size before I put it on... Now I gotta take it out and find a new one quick!

Hope one of these bearing supply stores has what I need so I can get the transmission on tomorrow.

I was going through a list of transmissions for the solstice. can anyone elaborate on which transmission on the solstice. when i'm looking for the tranny locally i keep on finding these two.

MT, beam from tail housing to rear differential
MT, tail housing mounted to frame crossmember

which one is the right transmission?

MT, tail housing mounted to frame crossmember

that one is the right one, from the 06-mid 07 models

basically just mounts up with a crossmember between the tunnel. The other later one mounts to the differential and would need more fabrication.

The correct transmissions are becoming pretty rare. The "without interim design change" trans is the one you want.

There are 5 or 6 of these on eBay for 600-800.

It's too bad there is no way to "flip" these cars. Now that I know how to do it all and have all the parts tracked down I could do the whole thing in a weekend including potential engine seals. The parts cost is just prohibitive. $4k.. ugh Taking a $3k craigslist automatic and putting a manual in it != 7k+my labor+profit

AR-5 on an LSX.

So I if you search for LSX supra conversions you'll find people using an R154. It stands to reason that the AR-5 would also be compatible.

There's https://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/...15/kit-gmax15/

Amyama trading co is where I found mine. Shipping can be expensive so try to order everything you will need.

Too bad no one knows the part number to this piece. It was used on the ZOK solstice.

What would that piece allow? So you could use a newer AR5 with the side mount?

I was thinking the solution was to fab up a mount like this. If you could get the torque arm from the solstice it wouldn't be that hard to weld a mount bracket to it at some specific height. The GM part looks like a casting probably from aluminum.

I once looked into it, these brackets are as rare as hen's teeth. GM never made many of them in the first place.

Yeah I don't think the part is possible to get. But it does give an idea for fab, but you're right it's a cast part.

If I ever needed another one I would probably just find a low mileage and swap my current tailshaft housing on to it.

Yeah, I was thinking this is the way to go too. I was pondering AR-5 into Miata the other day. Miata already uses a torque arm. You'd just have to mate the Miata torque arm to the solstice one.
