I would assume the tail of the AR-5/MA5 can not be converted to use the R154 type tail end, since nobody has mentioned it or attempted to do so.

It would make it easier to just get drive shafts available from DSS or DM.

In for replies, I'm looking into getting an Solstice AR-5/MA5 very soon
I made this thread to try to simplify the installation, while it may be possible to purchase and install the R154 input shaft, i see no advantage to it, when it is so simple to order a clutch disk with the correct spline count.

I have heard conflicting information on the cross compatibilty on the tail housing, once again i do not see the advantage of swapping it, either way you will need to purchase a custom drive shaft, so why not make just get one compatible with the AR5?

Basically i say why try to make the transmission AR5 into a R154? It much simpler to work with the AR5 as it is.

These questions might be better posed to the AR5 swap progress thread.

???????
From a quick google search that transmission looks similar to the AR5 from the Colorado. It will not be compatible with the JZX shifter housing so without some serious shifter extension your shifter will be under your radio. I also see no cost savings on that transmission compared to the Solstice AR5. And no other advantage compared to the solstice AR5.

The purpose of this thread is for a clear and simple instructions for a AR5 swap to a IS300. Questions like these would be better posed in there own thread, or this thread will end up like the AR5 swap progress thread, that is like 35 pages of confusion.

Not sure if I missed it but is there a specific part number from GM for the 06 without interim change transmission?

Edit:

Here it is:

it does come in contact with the bellhousing, and no matter how i mounted it it would still contact.

i ended up cutting the tab that was making contact.

does anyone know how to bleed this setup? the land cruiser to solstice internal slave? there is no bleeder screw and i'm not getting enough pressure to fully disengage the clutch.

It should be noted that the flywheel people need is an 8-bolt out of the 1JZ...not a 6-bolt out of the 7MGTE.

Not sure if I'm splitting hairs but after getting in contact with ACT, they're saying 236mm is the proper disk size for the oem W58 flywheel.

Heads up about the bell housing. Definitely try and go OEM versus saving a few doll hairs.

IE: No to Akina Motorsports.

Apparently, there is a hump you need to grind where the clutch fork mounts.

You can see it here as well in their stock photo.

I just got my auto salvage license recently and I cant believe how many solstices there are in auctions and slowly in the junkyards. This swap is truly amazing and can be had for cheap. PM if you are looking for a trans on the cheap. I am not looking to make money off of this really, just trying to pay it forward in the community!!

Keep in mind, it's the transmission splines you need to match first. It doesn't matter what flywheel you have if the splines on the tranny input shaft don't match the clutch disk.

They said they can make it with the 240mm disk with 26 spline and 1-1/8" shaft but theyre saying I need the 236mm disk for it to work with the w55/58 flywheel and pressure plate. The guide says 240mm. Im guessing it the 240mm will still work.

Hi, some clutch kits will have varying clutch disc diameters, 240mm is the maximum. If act calls for a 236mm disc for there kit, that would be the one you use. I will update the thread to reflect stock size versus maximum possible size.

Random info to share... The stock bolts from the rear of the driveshaft to the differential can be too short (about 5mm)depending on how you did the swap (DriftMotion driveshaft adaptor, etc.). The bolts linked below will fix the issue.
