If it was used to just go down a set of stairs, I don't see why the engine swap was necessary. Seems to me the only thing they had to do was raise the car up.

They probably wanted to do away with the tranny and center differential to get a little more clearance.

From what I've read it's still under warranty as long as they don't turn off the LC2 before doing a burn-out.

As for crushing it, give it a chance. A new home with a buyer with deep pockets, a few weeks work, and it should be a respectable car again.
