Thinking about a G35

Hey All,

So I have sold my escape which my wife was driving and she wants a fun sporty car and she wanted an IS, however Id love to add another really cool car to the stable.

I was thinking about a G35 and wondered if anyone had any experience with them!

Thanks

-Will

Decent cars. I've heard the VQ35's have oil burning issues although that may only be limited to the DE and not the HR versions.....

I've got both. The G is a LOT faster, sure... but I definitely prefer the IS. The G seems to have more interior features, like dual zone AC and steering wheel controls, but the quality and fitment/finish is much worse. They're both nice cars to have, though the G has had a bunch of electrical problems.

thanks for throwin some opinions out there! I am getting pretty serious on a 2003 6MT fully loaded with about 130K on the ODO

hey tobiassing, would you consider the G35 a reliable car? similar to the IS. I mean sure if a few things go wrong here and there I am willing and able to fix them but i mean overall reliability?

Thanks again all, +rep for chiming in for a fellow member!

I guess it's reliable enough, the drivetrain is solid. But the electrics are wack lol..... I'd take the IS any day for reliability! So why not both? lol!

thanks man, just looked at one this morning, had a really loud lifter tick.. then on top of that, it had a 1/4 panel that was replaced and everything needed to be repainted..

ugh, its been so hard to find a car in good condition!

The loud lifters are a common problem on the VG35 it seems, nissan released a specific oil to help quiet them down. I work with a fella that needed to have the timing chain system replaced in their's - not sure if that is common or not.

while the G35 is the better performing car, the biggest thing that bugs me is the interior of the car. they tried to make it look luxury but it just feels like cheap plastic. that and i've heard it's not as reliable compared to an IS
