drunkenmonkey is right... the Lexus LF-A is overpriced and under performing. Yes there's a lot of technology in the LF-A... but what good is it if the net result can't perform faster than other competing cars?

Oh yeah sure, the $350000 price is too much for me surely, but they sold all of them! I've never seen one before, that would be awesome to get passed by one lol.

Then the IS falls in the same category. It's not about performance all the time. The driving experience is also just as important. That's why the FR-S/BRZ is such a great car too. Sure it only gets about 200hp but it's drives amazing. Technologically advanced cars push the market. For example, the NSX could have been considered overpriced and underperforming during it's time. However, if you like modern Ferraris you can thank the NSX for that.

So overpriced has to do with being faster now? Then all Ferrari's and Lambo's are overpriced compared to the Nissan GT-R......

Your example doesn't really apply. Both the Lexus IS and FR-S/BRZ are priced in a way that makes sense relative to competing cars that are in their classes. And those cars all have similar attributes to the other cars which are in that class.

The Lexus LF-A costs so much more than similar cars from other brands... and for what? Advanced design should have some achievements which make that car stand out (if it is indeed so advanced). The only thing that really stands out about the LF-A is the sound of its exhaust/engine.

All I'm saying is... there should be a reason a car costs the price it is being sold for. Why is the LF-A being sold for $375,000???

^ I don't think anyone is complaining about not being able to afford it. I'm pretty sure they don't like the price to power ratio vs. the competition.

Hopefully the video can help explain why it's expensive for the power/competition range.

Research and development.

Of course the LF-A is ridiculously overpriced and Toyota still lost money on it, but with all the time, effort, and cost they put into its creation, they had to bring a product to market and attempt to recoup something. Also, if the LF-A cost half of what it sold for, the overwhelming majority of people still wouldn't be able to afford one, so producing it in ultra-limited quantities adds to its mystique and appeal.

But they were all bought, so technically they weren't "overpriced", but priced properly for the demand..... the first and only supercar out of Lexus.
