... and again I ask...

Does the sportcross need some kind of special wiring for the rear sub to work? Or is it all just tied into the rear speakers anyways?

I believe I said how the sound is.... mine was distorted, very quiet unless installed wrong (lol), lots of alternator whine, and the frequency response sent to the speakers just didn't sound right, made it all sound like a cheap, unamped stereo from the 90s lol.

Sorry guys. I've been really busy with work, and just now I've finally got my vacation and can hang around here again
Also, for some reason, I wasn't subscribed to my own thread... Sorry.

Migs: Yes, given that the amp and the cables going between it and your center console are stock, you need to wire an extra connection between the one of these cables and straight to your headunit. This turn-on wire from the head unit is shared by both this amp+ cable that goes to the sub and a similar wire to the tyto-01.

I'll try to make some sort of wiring diagram.

Sound-quality wise, I'm quite happy. The sound is clearer than the stock head-unit, and the sub has a bit more punch to it. The only thing that isn't 100% perfect to date is a teeeeny-tiny variation in overall volume while playing. It's barely detectable at all (don't even know if it does it all the time), and you need to stop the car and reeeeaaally pay attention, but the volume does vary up and down with 0.5 dB or something.

When installing, I followed the advice of someone else here and remembered to turn the volume all the way up on the original head-unit before replacing it with the new one. It supposedly fools the amp or something, but I don't know if it makes any difference and I don't want to rip out my new cables to find out

Now, let's see.
Here's the wiring-diagram I just made:
As far as I know, the blue/white AMP+ wire on the right is the only thing separating the SportCross from the Sedan, connection-wise.

It's based on memory, the instructions for the TYTO-01 and a SportCross wiring diagram.

(These are the instructions for my particular head-unit)

As you can see, the power for the head-unit is carried through the TYTO-01-harness and can be connected straight from there.

Now, my wife has the car and won't be back till late, so I haven't yet checked if all this is correct, but it should be.
Also, I have no idea if Lexus or Metra/AXXESS/whoever changes color-schemes on their wires often, but the colors in the attached diagrams and instructions matched my case (2003 SportCross) to the dot.
Let me know if you spot any mistakes!!!

Two in the front doors, two small ones on the inside of where the side mirrors attach, two in the boot over the wheel wells behind the back seats, two in the D-pillars and one in the boot on the right side

I'd like to do this. So if we are using the stock amp, the kit bypasses the HU's internal amp correct? DO it get loud enough? No louder than stock I guess, but any reduction?

I'd really like bluetooth and iphone integration.

I coalesce the vapor of human experience into a viable and logical comprehenshion.

The TYTO-01 doesn't really bypass anything, but acts as a mediator/translator between the new HU and the stock amp.
The new HU needs to have four female RCA-plugs (LF, RF, LR, RR). This is what is used if making an audio-system with any external amp. These outlets aren't (and shouldn't be, to my knowledge) amplified.

The TYTO-01 has four male RCA-plugs and receives audio through these. It then "converts" the signal to whatever the original amp is used to getting from the original HU and sends that audio further on through the stock harness to the stock amp. You get it plenty loud, but like I said, you might notice a sliiiight volume variation up and down, but it's really not bad. It's probably not louder than stock (I've never tried blasting anything at full volume!), but not more quiet either. The sound is crisper, IMO. Also, the bass has more punch to it. At standard settings anyway. This is something you can adjust to your liking through the HUs own settings, I guess.

Having bluetooth integration (and reversing camera!) is great. I've got my whole music life on Spotify, and being able to access that in the car is awesome
Let me know if any of you have any more questions!
