sportcross tails removal

I feel like such a noob writing this.but how the heck do I get to the last screw to pop off the rear taillights? There is three. I got the 2 right behind them that are accessible by pulling off the cover tab in the hatch. But I cant find or reach the third and final screw. I tried taking off the bumper but before I go that far I want to make sure that is needed. Do I have to take off trim pieces?

good question. Unlike the sedan, which has 2 accessible screws under the trunk side, the SportX is different. There are 3 10mm nuts behind the trunk liner. 2 I could reach with only removing the bulb access panel. One I had to remove the trunk liner. To just get the taillight out, you can loosen the rear of the liner and pull out of the way. Complete removal of the side panel is a real pita.

I'm sorry you suffer from cranial-rectal inversion.

The last one you cannot see with the cover tab off. So, if you look at it directly it's on the inside towards middle. You need to pry the inside hatch cover a bit to actually see the last bolt. I loosen the little screw on each liner to pry it open.
You should be able to wedge in your socket after that. I just did this a couple months ago. After you get the last screws off, you can remove your rear bumper. Be careful though, start with the end first...then pull out from the middle of rear.

I think they went to MMSport for modding, which I believe has done it a few times.
