hatch corrosion

Hi all, I'm looking at a 2002 sx that has some rust of the hatch. I've heard of Lexus covering the repair with the corrosion warranty, but it was in the UK. Have you guys heard of this happening in the states?

I had slight rust bubbling under the paint on a Toyota hatch fixed under warranty recently but that thing was only 4 years old.

Do you know how long the corrosion warranty was on the sx? My body guy can fix it for a fair price anyway, but free would be sweet.

This was one of the reasons the SportCross was only like 40 kg heavier than the sedan (at least in the case of the IS200 SX).

I noticed corrosion starting to build up around the hinges between the hatch and the body. Do you recommend I get that fixed now or is it something I can sit on for awhile?
