Bought my first lexus sportcross today! problems already

Good evening everyone! I bought a 2004 Lexus Sportcross with 58,000 miles, it was a trade-in to a Lexus dealership.

I am trying to find my way through this site but I am having a hardtime. Here are my issues:

1) Highbeam indicator light not working and the fog indicator (how do I replace it and which bulbs.

2) The six cd changer is saying "error 4" anyone knows how to fix this issue?

3) Best place to buy new brake pad and rotors?

4) I am looking to switch all my interior light bulbs to LED but I dont know the correct sizes or which is the best website to buy them from. I am so confused with where to buy these items.

Congratulations on your new car. I'm suprised Lexus didn't fix these minor things before reselling the car, i will try to tackle some of your issues,
1. There is not a fog light indicator that I'm aware of, to replace high beam indicator you must remove your cluster bezel "3 screws" and the the cluster "3 screws and 2 connectors on back" your bulb should be next to the number 22.

2. I don't know how to fix this issue, but I know that the stock head units are notorious for problems, may need to replace it with one of the remanufactured units.

3. I personally think oem parts are the best replacement parts, so the dealership.

4. You must determine your bulb type and its specific measurements to ensures compadabilty I know I just picked what was recommended on the site, but I was unhappy with the outcome, I'm still playing around with some differnt led trying to get a perfect look.

Good Luck

Nice pick up with low miles!

Welcome......btw, I would first go back to the Lexus Dealership and give them a piece of my mind. Those issues all should have been dealt with especially being sold at a Lexus Dealership.

You should just invest in an aftermarket double din unit. Like Curran stated, our OEM units are highly known for the CD error.

I get my OEM replacement parts at my local Toyota. They are much cheaper than at Lexus.

I recommend this site for LEDs. Where I got all of mine.

I ended up emailing the sales rep and he is gonna try to help me out. I bought the car as is and it was a very desirable car. I made a deal with them which was not to have the car detailed which was a hit with the sales department. The salesman is gonna help me out with the radio and the high beam indicators.

I believe he is gonna get me a couple hundred bucks cash for the replacement stereo. Anyone know best place to buy a remanufacture one?

You might be able to find a used one of the forum. Actually I'll sell you mine for $50 if you want - It's just a single disc player though (no built in changer) which I believe are a bit more reliable.

CONGRATS ON THE PURCHASE! im sure you will be happy once you fix some of these things. like everyone has previously stated, i would definitely go back to the dealership and complain and see what they can fix. i would say most issues you have should have been dealt by the stealership.

if you use the search bar in the forum a lot of the questions you have been answered and a lot come down to what you want.

a lot of people say or brakes are great OEM as they come no need to run performance pads or rotors. if you can deal with paying oem prices then i would highly suggest doing that. look into sewell lexus- they are a vendor here as well. they give a great discount on OEM parts and customer service has always been great! at least with me.

as far as turning everything into led/ most of your bulbs will be 194(t10) wedge bulbs. with the exception of the Dome light and visor mirrrors. some people like to buy there LEDs from superbrightleds.com and autoillumination.com i prefer ebay. i get them dirt cheap and if one goes out i got plenty more and it doesnt cost me dollars but cents to replace.
the cluster has three 194 wedge bulbs and two 74(t5) from what i remember.someone correct me if i am wrong.

also try rockauto.com-i buy a lot of my replacement parts there too. its not OEM but prices are better than most local shops.

lucky for me my 6 disc changer still works but i dont use it. i run my ipod thru the tape deck...lol

also if you are on fb check out the lexus is300 sportscross owners group. a lot of us are on there you can find me under "erick tlaloc"

let us know what the outcome is from the dealership!

In a few cases I've read about, removing the head unit reveled a stuck CD and removing it freed up the unit again.

Oh I will add this too, if your going to remove the head unit protect the sides of your dash with tape or something, the dash is very prone to scratches.

+1

Also make sure the dealer protects the dash on either side of the cluster bezel if they replace the light. Take pics of the current dash condition and let them know you expect they won't screw it up.
