2005 IS Pricing

Hello everyone, I'm from Madison, WI.
I'm in the market for an is. Been looking around, and they're pretty hard to find around here with low mileage and unmolested. I've always had a thing for the is, and now that my dd jeep is going downhill I think it's time for an upgrade. Are there any specific issues I should be looking for when looking at these cars? Any years better than others?

I found this one 2005 78k miles for $12,000 VIN:JTHBD192350095330

2005 Lexus IS 300 Sport Highland Park, Illinois | M&I Imports

Opinions? The price too steep? Thanks

According to KBB the pricing is on point based on mileage and what appears to be pretty darn good condition for a 10 year old car. These cars will run forever if maintained properly and, in my opinion, the body style doesn't look it's age. Keep in mind this is a rear wheel drive so I'm not too sure how the car and the Madison winters would get along.

As far as concerns, there is an issue with 02+ with 'dash melt' in which the finish on the dash gets a sticky/gooey finish. Do a search for more info. Most of the mechanical bugs by '05 were worked out but I don't believe that the '05 had LSD. Also, nothing for these cars is cheap so keep that in mind. Thankfully, premium gas is under $3 a gallon in Florida since she is a thirsty machine.

All in all though, I love the IS. I have an '05 that just turned 38K on the clock. The only issue I had was switching out the dash from the issue noted above. Great, reliable car with a good bit of power.

I paid around that for my 05 with 80K and yes the 05's did come with an LSD option, my car is factory equipped with the M98 differential and it is reflected on the window sticker for the car that was included at purchase.
