2001 IS300 with 89.6k miles pricing

hello all, i'm from the Seattle area to start things off.

I'm in the market for several cars including IS300's. They are super hard to find with low mileage but I came across one with 89,575 miles AUTO. VIN JTHBD182810025771. From a dealer. Looks fairly clean.

9.5 is their listed price which i think is a little high but that's just their initial asking price. From research I believe 90k is a maintence checkpoint for the car. Timing belt and such. So I would have to consider that unless it was done recently.

Anyway here's a direct link Used 2001 Lexus IS 300 - Serving Bothell WA - Frontline Auto Brokers

Thoughts? Advice? Thanks

9.5 is a bold price for an '01. I've seen many on CL that are asking $5500 and the car still doesn't budge. Granted, this is a dealer price versus private party, but still... No way, Josť

I couldn't see myself paying more than 8.5k for it. IS300 is on my top 3 of cars I'm looking into, they're just so hard to find with fairly low mileage. (Imrpeza WRX, and g35 are the other 2)

I will say that I much prefer the IS over the Impreza and g35. Not that the other two are bad, but what you get with the is300 is hard to beat.

I love the interior of them. I've driven a friends 04 several times and loved the acceleration and handling. Horsepower isn't bad either. Something about them. Been a fan of them for maybe 8 years now and it's finally time for me to get a new car...I'm just too scared to look at the ones with like 120-160k mileage. I see many of those though.

Autocheck says it's a 1 owner with an accident in FL in 2010. It first was auctioned in Feb 2014 to a dealer in Bellevue with 86k miles. The current dealer reported it in Jan 2015 with 89k.

Maintenance history is much more important than mileage, especially on these cars. I guarantee my car at 128k is in a lot better shape than other cars whose maintenance has not been kept up but only have 80k miles. If you can go check it out and you don't see any major concerns, I wouldn't worry too much about "high mileage," though I understand the reason behind your hesitance. So if you find one at 120k but it's had regular maintenance, the 90k done, you're in good shape. If it's at 120k and the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets have also been done, you're golden. Just start looking into bushings (steering rack and LCA #2 , especially).

Not sure if you're still looking but just for comparison, I bought my '02 stock auto at 81K for 7600 this year. Good luck on your purchase!

I got my 2001 with 84k 3 years ago for 6k. it was a private seller and needed all maintenance done (timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, etc). It may be low mileage, but given that its still a 14 year old car, i would never pay 9.5k. 7k out the door seems like a more realistic price

I bought my 2001 Lexus IS300 for 95k miles for $9,100. Price was from a dealership but I got to admit, it was worth it. Loved the car and the feeling of driving it is amazing.
